Heavy Coverage Foundation Routine!

I know I may not have the worst skin but for some reason, dolloping on copious amounts of different makeup products makes me feel that little bit better about myself!
So after investing in a few luxury products and getting a decent collection together, along with getting a good camera to photograph the whole procedure of 'putting my face on' - I thought I might as well show you how I plaster myself!
I've experimented with a load of different techniques and orders of applying the products, and after a few months of testing the longevity of the products and which ones are best for my skin type (combination skin for those who are wondering) - I've ended up with this combination! So without further ado.. here we go!

I start off with Benefit's 'The Pore-fessional' - applying it as a primer, pretty much all over my face (primarily under the eyes... excuse the pun, and over the nose and chin)

After that, I'll apply some more primer - Benefit's 'That Gal' pretty much on the same areas (I like to be sure with these primers okay?)

Here is a 'lovely' picture of me applying the primer (using my fingers.. tut tut!)

Then I'll get my good ol' Estee Lauder 'Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup' (in shade 2C1) liquid foundation and I'll use my Real Techniques Stippling Brush to apply it.
But before applying I have a top tip that I picked up from watching different beauty gurus! I've also had MAC makeup artists use this form of applying on me when I've gotten my makeup done in store.

What I'll do is I'll use the lid of a small eye-shadow trio that I no longer use - and put a healthy-sized blob of my foundation on it, and then blow it out over the lid evenly. This allows the product to be distributed more evenly on the brush, and you have more control over the amount that's going on your face, and it also prevents streaking (from my point of view anyway!) After doing this, I'll apply it to my face of course! I start from the center of the face and work my way outwards (remembering to blend into the neck and jawline!!)

This next bit is a bit that most people think I'm stupid for doing, but It's what works best for me! I do basically the same procedure (but with less product) with my MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (Shade NC20) - I hope you can see in the picture the areas that I apply it to! Its basically three stripes across my face! 1. Under my mouth & across. 2. Under my eyes/over my nose and blend upwards. 3. Forehead & temples! Sorted!

After giving my skin a minute or so to dry, I like to lightly apply my Hoola by Benefit bronzer to the hollows of my cheeks, down either side of my nose, and on my temples using my Real Techniques Blush Brush.

The next step is contouring & highlighting my 'visage', I use my Sleek Contour Kit in the lightest shade (it's either called 'fair' or 'light') using the same brush because I'm minging aren't I? I'll apply the dark shade lightly over my bronzer, and then the highlighting powder goes to work down the middle of the nose, above where I've bronzed on my cheeks, and slightly on my forehead. I might have overdone it a little in this picture though, you don't need to be luminescent!

After this... Iiiiiiiiiits blusher time! I use my Sleek Blush by 3 palette in 'Lace' and yup, you guessed it, apply with the same brush! Sorry :'( The blush goes on the apples of the cheeks, so smile your fakest smile to get them nice and plump, then go crazy!

Now we're pretty much done! (This was a foundation/skin routine remember?) So no eyes/lips and the rest this time unfortunately! If I hear a few nice things about this post then I might do a few eyeshadow looks?
I've added that picture above just to show what a finished look would be like (and to tease) ;-)

Till next time my sexies,

How to wear: Topshop Mom jeans

As I live in a pretty rural area of Wales, it's pretty hard to try and follow fashion without having the mickey taken out of you, so I wear slightly toned down versions of what I'd actually like to wear, in the hope nobody will laugh! The notorious mom jeans are something I've wanted to try out for months, but I didn't think they'd go with anything, I didn't think I could pull them off! Being a measly 5ft 2 I don't actually pull much at all off, but I'm always willing to give them a go. So finally, I did it! I finally plucked up the courage to get myself some Mom jeans! The verdict: They're not as hard to style as I thought they'd be! In fact, they've been the only bottoms I've worn for the past few days.

My jeans are in the shade "vintage" and cost £40

The jeans are a lot more versatile than I thought they'd be, although finding shoes to go with them is proving to be quite difficult! I've put together 3 different looks that could work for you.

Look 1
This look is something I'd probably wear to college or to go out shopping or something similar (practical shoes for shopping!!) This look is perhaps the edgier of all three, with a lot of black and metal detailing such as the silver chain, and studs on jacket & pumps. This look can also be easily dressed up with some studded wedges or something with a platform/heel.
Shoes - £29 Topshop
Jeans - £40 Topshop
Belt - £2.99 River Island
T-shirt - £12.99 New Look
Jacket - about £75 Topshop
Chain necklace - £7 Claire's Accessories

Look 2
This is a very casual outfit, and the oversized bomber jacket & converse gives it a sporty feel. The girly 3/4 floral print top adds a pop of colour and femininity to the outfit, as the mom jeans can look quite masculine.
Shoes - £49.99 Schuh
Jeans - same as before
Belt - same as before
Top - £17.99 New Look
Jacket - £35.99 River Island
Necklace - £2.99 Primark
Gold rings (barely seen) - Claire's Accessories
Look 3
This is more of a 'going out for a few drinks' look, ideal for the when it's quite cold! The fluffy jumper adds warmth, but the cropped length keeps it fun! Ive added some hand of hamsa earrings just to bling it up a bit, and my wedges are comfortable and very easy to walk in, which is always an essential!
Heels - £29.99  New Look
Jeans - as before
Belt - as before
Jumper - £8 Primark
Earrings - £3 New Look sale

I hope that my first post has been useful for at least one person out there!!
